Wooden Paddle Ball Game
Great fun for all ages (and not as easy as it looks) the wooden paddle has a floral pattern printed on it and has a pink rubber ball attached with elastic. The aim is to keep hitting the ball away with the bat – once you have the knack, it’s immensely satisfying to get a rhythm going.
Dimensions: 29 x 15cm
WARNING! Choking hazard contains small parts
Not suitable for children under the age of 3 years
The Paddle Ball was one of the more playful inventions (in the 1920s) to follow the invention of soft rubber. The Fli-Back Company, which launched the toy (as it’s only product), was incorporated in 1931 and its success led to the development of other playthings like yo-yos and spinning tops. The logo was of a cowboy playing with the toy while on a bucking bronco. The game was successful through the century in several formats and it also appeared on film – notably in the comedy Blazing Saddles, where one character shows his mastery of the toy and the other can barely manage one clean hit.
