Star Wars is a world-wide pop culture phenomenon. It was originally released as a film on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox (as Star Wars) and was only later re-titled ‘Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope’. It is set “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….” and is an epic space opera fairytale. It was the first in the originally trilogy, which has subsequently generated three prequel films and is now in the process of being added to further. In 1980, George Lucas, who created the franchise, said that it was (at that point) a nine-part saga that has a beginning, a middle and an end. It progresses over a period of about fifty or sixty years with about twenty years between trilogies, each trilogy taking about six or seven years.
There are several Death Star space station superweapon bases in the various Star Wars films. The first, completed in the first Star Wars Film, was supposedly 87 miles in diameter and housed 1.7m people and 400,000 droids. Return of the Jedi, the third film, shows a second, much bigger and more advanced Death Star under construction. Both could destroy a planet with one shot from main weapon – a kyber crystals powered superlaser.
