Scooby-Doo is an animated cartoon produced from 1969 onwards. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, was the original series and was created for Hanna-Barbera by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1969. Broadcast on CBS (US) from 1969 to 1976 (on Saturday-mornings) and then on ABC, it features the voice talents of Don Messick, Casey Kasem, Frank Welker, Nicole Jaffe and Indira Stefanianna Christopherson. The catchy theme song was penned by David Mook and Ben Raleigh, and performed by Larry Marks. Arriving in their “Mystery Machine” van, four teenagers (Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers) and Scooby-Doo, their dog (a big brown, talking, Great Dane) solve mysteries. Finding some apparently supernatural creature, they investigate, realize it is a hoax, and capture the miscreant behind the scheme, who is taken to jail, claiming "... I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!"
Scooby Doo and his four companions usually arrived at a location in the "Mystery Machine", their psychedelically painted van which sported bright colours (blue and green with orange lettering) and groovy flower power imagery.
