Though clearly associated with a telephone box (or booth, as the Americans call it), Clark Kent did not always use one to change into his alter-ego, Superman – it has rarely been shown in the comics. He first used a phone booth to change in a Paramount Pictures cartoon called "The Mechanical Monsters" in 1941 and Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (who created Superman) showed one being used in a newspaper comic strip in 1942.
