Mickey Mouse (and his high-pitched voice) is an icon and a central character to and for the Walt Disney Company since he first appeared in the now infamous short film “Steamboat Willie” made in 1928, which was one of the first to include sound (though he was first seen in the Plane-Crazy test screening). A humourous anthropomorphic cartoon mouse wearing white gloves, yellow shoes and red shorts, , he was created by Walt Disney and Ubbe Eert "Ub" Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928. He has made over 130 appearances and, in 1978, became the first cartoon character to achieve a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
