Catchphrase was initially broadcast on ITV from 1986 to 2004. A weekly game show with two contestants, it was presented by Northern Irish comedian Roy Walker from the start, up to 1999. Players had to identify a familiar expression from an animation shown on a large screen. A gold-coloured robot called "Mr. Chips" appeared in many of the animations –originally quite tall, he later became a much shorter figure. The incidental music accompanying the animations, and the main theme tune, were composed by Ed Welch.
